Gelsey Bell received her PhD in Performance Studies from New York University in January 2015. Her research focuses on the voice, song, twentieth-century music and performance, contemporary philosophy, technology, the quotidian, speech pathology, and social justice.

She teaches performance and composition at the College of Performing Arts at the New School in New York City. She is a Contributing Editor for TDR/The Drama Review: the Journal of Performance Studies and an Associate Editor for The Journal of Interdisciplinary Voice Studies.
